Very lightweight mesh - it's 14 grams total, has a super lightweight ripstop nylon fabric where it touches your hat (or your head), and then it drapes over your head with a (nonadjustable) elastic to close off your neck. With a wide brimmed hat, you get plenty of room to breathe.

It works well for its purpose, but the non-adjustable elastic does prevent this from being used in other ways. It would interfere if you're trying to eat (you can't even pull it on and off real quick because the elastic is fairly tight). But for the weight, it's great "just in case" item.
